[ For a long, long moment, Ai just stares at him. From the blank, entirely too honest expression of shock on her face, it's evident that she wasn't expecting an answer like that.

Her thoughts are churning at a hundred miles an hour. Ever since she knew they existed, she's been so wholly dedicated to being Aqua and Ruby's mother that she's never even imagined what having another child would be like - even if she wanted to and she could, who would she even have it with? And for all that she teases him about being such a possessive sort, needing to stake his claim and leave his mark on her, it's never occurred to her that he'd want something like this.

And yet here he is, admitting that he wouldn't mind. And he says it with a face like that.

It feels like her heart's in her throat.

She tries to let herself imagine it. The whole mess that her first pregnancy had been, the secrecy and the isolation - and the feverish excitement, the anticipation and the quiet joy of it. But this time, having someone to share it with - marvelling over progress, squabbling lightheartedly over names and decorations and themes and plans for the future.

( - a small, stubborn boy, the spitting image of his father, with the same stormy temperament and a scowl that's just as charming, a sharp-witted girl with a smile that's all Oberon's, mischievous and cunning and with a mouth that runs like the tide - )

And suddenly it's so, so hard to breathe. She feels heat flood her face and realises that she, too, is screaming scarlet red.

She drops her head to rest on his chest and laughs, shaky and bright and enormously overwhelmed. ]

Oberon... you weren't supposed to say something like that.

[ But she certainly doesn't sound displeased. ]
