[ For just a second, it feels like her ears are ringing. Bundled up in Rinne's arms, pressed against him and knowing he's strong enough to prop her up if she falters, that he'll do it even if she doesn't ask him to — it should soften the blow. But it doesn't. Her heart suddenly picks up its pace and she recognizes that it's fear making her pulse thunder like that. Fear that it might not be real. How are you supposed to feel when the thing you've been looking for all your life gets shoved into your hands like this?
